Dating back to the early 1800s at least, this Italian heirloom is popular in Tuscany and central Italy for making fabulous soups and stews and is one of the most beautiful and flavorful types you can grow. It is also known as Dinosaur Kale due to its fascinating, bumpy leaves. A melding of cabbage and kale, it is extremely winter hardy, becoming especially sweet after a freeze.
