Seed Savers Maintains Seeds for Sharing and Preservation

The Exchange is a seed swap, where gardeners from around the country offer seeds they’ve grown (“homegrown seeds”). The Exchange is facilitated by Seed Savers Exchange, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing heirloom seeds.  The Exchange facilitates the sharing and preservation of seeds amongst gardeners.

The organization maintains a Seed Bank containing over 25,000 varieties. Some of the varieties are distributed, and 600+ varieties are made commercially available in the seed catalog. The revenue from the seed sales, as well as donations and memberships, serve to maintain the organization’s collection and encourage the tradition of saving and sharing seeds.

Quality Organic Seeds from Botanical Interests

As early signers of the Safe Seed Pledge which states “…we do not knowingly buy, sell, or trade genetically-engineered seeds or plants”, their seeds are tested by the Non-GMO Verified Project which looks for  contamination in seeds from cross-pollination. Their organic seeds are not treated, and packets never contain fillers.

They guarantee their seeds and have a third-party laboratory test seeds regularly to ensure germination rates are high.
